Manipal: Overseas students at dental summer training in MCODS

Manipal, 13 August 2017: Fifteen dental students from Poland, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Jordan and Malaysia began their two-week Manipal International Dental Summer Training (MIDST) programme at Manipal College of Dental Sciences here on August 7, 2017.

 

Dr. Karunakar A. Kotegar, Deputy Director for International Collaborations, Manipal University and Dr. Keerthilatha M. Pai, Dean, MCODS presided over the inaugural function which was also attended by the faculty and students of MCODS. Dr. Shashidhar Acharya, Program Coordinator and Head of Public Health Dentistry welcomed the gathering and gave a brief overview of the programme.

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kotegar expressed happiness that the students from different parts of the world have enrolled for the program this year.  Dr. Keerthilatha said she was hopeful that the students would gain valuable experience during their stay in Manipal.

 

MIDST is aimed at providing international dental students a glimpse into dentistry as practiced in India. Over the next two weeks, the participants will be exposed to various facets of the profession including volunteering at outreach camps, interactive lectures in advanced clinical dental procedures and hands on demonstrations.

 

In addition to the educational experience, the participants will also be introduced to the rich cultural heritage of the region through guided programmes. Through this platform, MCODS Manipal aims to reach out to those dental institutions across these countries to send their students for this unique event and build a lasting professional relationship.
