Kundapura: Karnataka Under 11 Open & Girls Chess Championship

Kundapura, 19 May 2017: Karnataka State Under 11 Open and Girls Chess Championship 2017 was flagged off today at Sri Siddivinayaka Residential School, Hattiyangadi,Kundapura,Karnataka. The championship was jointly organised by Udupi District Chess Association and Sri Siddivinayaka Chess Academy, Kundapaua. The event was inaugurated by Mr H Ramachandra Bhat, Managing Trustee Sri Siddivinayaka Temple,Hattiangadi and Mr Ananda Billava, President, Grama Panchayat, Tellur,Kundapuara, Mr Rajeev Shetty,President, Grama Panchayat, Hattiyangady. Mr Nagendra Muralidhar, Vice President,United Karnataka Chess Association, Mt Upanath Kapu, Vice president, Ududpi District Chess Association. Mr Babu J Poojary, Director, Sri Siddivinayaka Chess Academy,Hattiangady International Chess Arbiter, Vasanth BH (Chief Arbiter of Championship) were the other dignitaries on the dais.



A total of 131 players in open Chess Championship and 76 players in Girls Chess Championship participated from different parts of state. Pranav Anand ( ELO Rating 2068) of Bangalore  is the top seed followed by Mr Pankaj Bhat (1541) of Puttur, Apoorv Kamble (1471), Arhan Chethan Anand(1454), Karthikay C (1451)  of Bangalore.


The championship carry a prize fund of Rs 30,000 plus Trophy. The 9 round championship will conclude on 21ST  May 2017


Top two players from Boys and Girls championship will represent Karnataka state to  National Under 11 Chess Championship 2017 to be held at Maharastra from 22nd Nov  to 30th Nov 2017.
