Information on diseases is necessary to cure, DC Priyanka Mary

Udupi, 15 March 2017: Cancer is a deadly decease, but with timely treatment it can be cured. Therefore it is necessary to have awareness and information on this decease, said Udupi Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis. She was speaking in the concluding ceremony of the Information and Training program on Cancer decease for Asha and Anganavadi workers jointly organized by District Administration, Yenapoya University and District Health & Family Welfare department on Tuesday.



About 8 percent people are suffering from Cancer. Knowing the symptoms and awareness on the curing can help to cure this disease. For this reason the information and training is organized for the Asha and Anganavadi workers on this disease. Based on the result of this program, the same programs will be extended to other districts also, she said.


Yenapoya University Chancellor Dr. G. Shrikumar Menon said that the Asha and Anganavadi workers can inform their nearest hospital or the doctors whenever they find people having the symptoms of cancer. It is not necessary that they only have to inform Yenapoya hospital. It is important that those patients get immediate treatment, he said.


Zilla Panchayath president Dinakar Babu conveyed his best wishes. District Medical Officer Dr. Rohini, Women & Children Welfare department Deputy Director Gracy Gonsalves, Yenapoya Hospital Community Health Department Head Dr. Abhaya Nirgude were present on the occasion. Dr. Vasudeva welcomed the gathering and compered the program. On this occasion Priyanka released the leaflets containing the awareness information on Cancer disease.
